The goal of the project is to design a conceptual dress, that is inspired by a conceptual designer. The designer I was inspired by Charlotte Ham; she graduated from Kingston University in 2014 and is now working at ICE. For this project I focused primarily on her latest collection called “Void”. In the collection, she experimented with different materials such as strips of veneer and wood, and in some of her garments she created 3D cubes using thick fabrics and strips of veneer form corner pieces, which I thought was very interesting. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to explore working with metals and wood, so instead I focused primarily on cut outs and geometric shapes.
